Accept No Medicocre Life – by David Foster
by Ryan Loos on Sep.17, 2009, under Books
I started reading Accept No Mediocre Life and thought that once a week we would discuss a chapter in the book. This week’s chapter is titled “I will Embrace My Uniqueness.” I would like to start with the last sentence of the chapter, Thomas a Kempis who said “First keep the peace within yourself, then you can also bring peace to others.” Until we are at peace with being unique (some may say different) we will always compare ourselves to others and to their accomplishments, physical appearance and financial standing. From a financial perspective, not all of us will be rich but that does not mean that we need to be poor. Until we are content with our uniqueness and content with our stuff we will continue to try to keep up with the “Jones.” Not only do we need to look at ourselves and examine what makes us unique but we need to embrace our uniqueness knowing that we are all created with different gifts and talents. Each one of us needs to peruse our own path with our gifts so that we may be the best we can be in our own uniqueness.
